Course involves review and discussion of research on:
- evolving perspectives of leadership
- evidence-based strategies to negotiate academic medicine, science and engineering
- gender differences in leadership
- unconscious assumptions about the behavior and traits of leaders
- approaches to counteracting biases
Credits: Variable, 1-3, assignments include:
- 1 credit for attending 15 classes, discussion in weekly journal entries and responding to course readings
- 2 credits for attending 20 classes, maintaining a journal and writing a literature review or a research proposal
- 3 credits for attending class every week, maintaining a journal, and completing a research project which results in a paper and in–class presentation
